Hello people, as i have seen some topics made by some members were they share their creations, modifications and ideas, i thought it was a good idea to start my own topic about that, this way i can avoid filling other topics with too many information by saving all that information here and just posting small texts in those other topics.

To start, i would like to share some creations which i worked on:

 

 

Model Team Nissan Frontier.

This is one of my oldest models, i made it even before i knew about Eurobricks, and i would like to share it with you because you might like it or modified it:

This model features front independent suspension, rear leaf spring suspension using 5.5 axles, HOG steering, working doors, bonnet and tailgate, 5 seats and a towing hitch; its very possible that some parts are with wrong colors or there could be outdated building techniques, but i think that is not too bad for one of my first LDD models (i am no sure, but if i have enough time and inspiration i could make it in real Technic parts), The LXF: http://bricksafe.com/files/imanol/nissan-frontier/Nissan Frontier.lxf.

 

 

Model Team Paramount Group Marauder MRAP.

Again, one of my oldest models, it is made at a pretty small scale but it could still be considered as "model team" (i think), it has pendular suspension in both axles which are damped by cross-axles which act as leaf springs, it has HOG steering, working winch and doors, a spare tire and 2 turrets that can be mounted on the roof:

Technic Unimog U500 Long Chassis (I have called it UNI-MOC)

You might have seen it in the latest posts at 8110´s Mods topic ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/57543-8110-unimog-mods-and-improvements/&page=78 ), it is a 64 studs long and 24 studs wide model which i started to make because the modifications in the 8110 got to a too high level and i wasn´t satisfied with the whole model, i created this new model to hold all of my wanted functions and details, this model has some designs from other builders: Madoca´s Tatra 2-speeds gearbox (slightly modified to fit in this new chassis), Efferman´s planetary rims, a modified version of Didumos knob gear driven axle and a 3-side dumping system and dropping sides inspired by Kumbbl´s modifications, it was also made by some help and inspiration by Pat-Ard:

This Unimog has 4 M-Motors, 2 L-Motors, 2 XL-Motors, 3 IR RC Receivers, 2 AAA Battery Boxes and 3 PF Switches (brick-built with ugly colors), why so many motors? well, as you might know, the 8110 had only one M-Motor inside it, which was meant to drive the 3 main functions of the set (front PTO, rear PTO and the pneumatic pump) the problem was that the functions couldn't be used simultaneously, you couldn't power front and rear PTO´s at the same time or with the pneumatic pump and because this system uses a gearbox and axles to engage and transmit the power to the different parts, this results in a lot of friction and power losing (other of the reasons of why i started this MOC), other thing that bother me about the 8110 was the proportions of it, it was very tall with lifted wide axles, but very thin cab and bed which made it look silly, the chassis had no space for all the functions that i wanted, i couldn't place enough motors or functions on it, and the axles were another problem, the steering pivot and angle was a disappointing, the tires couldn't steer too much with the half pins, and if you removed them, the mudguards and the surrounding elements needed to be placed far away from the tires to avoid them from colliding, these are few of the reasons of why i started to make my own version of this UGN class of Unimog (which are U300, U400 and U500).

Some of the good features of this model are:

  • Improved steering pivot (2 studs closer to the wheels compared to standard portal hubs)
  • Wheels and portal hubs can handle more torque without jamming parts 
  • The axles are more compact (less tall), so the chassis can move even lower for a more realistic performance
  • Front steering by L-Motor
  • Rear steering (By M-Motor) with the same axle design as the front one
  • Anti-roll bars in both axles, which help a lot to handle with weight and give a lot of stability, and they can be easily removed for serious offroading
  • Remotely shifted 2-speeds gearbox by M-Motor
  • Directly driven pneumatic pump (L-Motor) and PTO´s (M-Motors) for less power losing
  • 3-side tipping 37 studs long 23 studs wide dump bed with dropping sides using a V2 large pneumatic cylinder
  • Drive by 2 XL-Motors

 

So, these are some of my models, i hope you like them, and i hope to upload more of them, i will try to do my best with all them, let me know what you think about this topic and the models, and any suggestion is well received

Thanks everyone for your kind words, right now i am finishing both sides of the Uni-moc, i have placed all the PF components and the pneumatic valves and the pump (sadly i got space only for 1 pump), and i am expecting to add the covers, the rear mudguards and finish the rear end of the truck, once i finish that, i will start the cabin; i will also browse in my computer to see if there are any more models which are worth to share here, thank you all for your support and you interest.

Hello, this time a modification, i have made Rm8´s BAJA Trophy Truck (AKA Double Trouble: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/109447-double-trouble/&page=1) in LDD, a very satisfying construction with lots of clever techniques and realism:

The model has brick-built buggy motors (which are grouped so you can put them apart), i couldn't place some parts because LDD doesn't have the real life "flexibility", but it still looks cool, and after making it, i decided to make "little" modifications:

This is my  "BAJA Police Interceptor Truck", i don´t know if there are real life police trophy trucks (i don´t think there are, but i would like if there were), this model has almost the same features of the original model by Rm8, the difference is that it is powered by 2 Buwizz: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/136273-buwizz-high-performance-lego-power-functions-controller-and-battery/), so it should be even a bit faster in real life, it has reinforced bumpers in in the front and in the rear, the front one has some rubber parts, which are there to give more grip when it is "intercepting" another vehicle, it is also thought to use 3rd party tires (they are represented with other tires, but possibly it would use the same ones as the original model), standard (ugly and fat) lego tires still can be placed by only adding 1L bush on each side of the axle to make them fit:

By the way, i have made some little advances in the Uni-moc, i need to finish all the mudguards and make a locking system for the 3-side tipping bed (and make better headlights):

Hello, since the Uni-moc is growing slowly and i think i need to rest a little bit from it, i decided to start a new project, it is a chassis for small size 4x4 vehicles, it already has live axle suspension in both axles, it is steered by a servo motor and driven by a buggy one, with a gear radio of 5:3 for torque or 1:1 for speed (depending of the gears in the axles), the motors are powered by AAA or LiPo battery boxes and will be controlled by a normal IR receiver, but for better performance there should be used an SBrick or a Buwizz:

The idea that i have for this chassis is to make it similar to Sheepo´s MAP chassis an standard chassis which can hold several bodies styles, it will have few connection points for the bodies, so it should be a good base for rally-like vehicles, i hope you like it, let me know what you think.

One Question: How did you use 5.5 axles as springs in your Nissan?

The idea is that the 5.5 axles must be fitted to the cross-axle bricks in front of them:

when they are in that position they act like leaf springs and they work considerably good, i designed this kind of suspension many years ago, when i only had bricks and some spare axles but i hadn't a very decent collection of Technic parts, the lack of any kind of shock absorbers and the limited space made me create this, and of course this model has shock absorbers in the front axle, but i couldn't fit them in the rear axle because they would need much more space above them and the bed would need to be lifted too much, this is why i didn't use them in the rear axle, but if you want to modify it to add shock absorbers feel free to do it.

Some more updates of the small 4x4 chassis:

Here it is with the IR receiver at the rear, at this point i think it is a fully working chassis, something that really impressed me is that despite having the buggy motor and the servo, i have a considerable free space in the chassis, enough to add 2 seats (i must put other color for them)

After this i started to create a body for it, note that it is not the final body, it is just an example, i first wanted to make it more round-shaped, but i have a lack of inspiration at this moment and i might do that the next time, but so far it doesn't look to ugly (Not as much as i was expecting):

The body reminds me of an old Nissan Micra K10 :thumbup:

I think that you have found the perfect body for the chassis, even the color is the same, i will start to make it more similar to it, but it will be later or maybe tomorrow, because this day i have to do something very important, but i will surely try to make a similar body to that one, thanks for your help.

Some updates in the Uni-Moc, i have started to make the doors, i made them studded, this way i can give them the right shape but they are enough strong so they wont pop out easily:

The rear mudguards are finished, they dont look as the real life ones, but because the rear wheels will steer almost the same as the front ones, i needed space for the turning, this is why the mudguards are very separated from the tires:

And this is the first attempt to recreate the round shaped hood of the U500, it is not easy to make it when you only have a few of round shaped parts, but in humble opinion it doesn't look too bad (so far):

So far the remaining things are the cabin, the tipping bed locking mechanism and the rear end with the lights and the plates, etc, etc, but i am glad with how this is turning out, more updates will come soon.

Looking forward to the finished Uni-Moc. Why did you change the tipping bed to 5L liftarms? Would panels not be better?

Yes, the main idea was that, but the problem was the scale, because the tipping bed must be 5 studs tall, and i couldn't do that with the panels because they wouldn't tilt because of their shape, the previous version of the tipping bed had the panels but it was 6 studs tall and it made the truck look too oversized, the only way the the panels could work is if they wouldn't have that rectangular shape, this way they wouldn't lock with the other parts and they would work perfectly, but something that i have learned about making models is that nothing is permanent, so i cant tell whether or not i will use the panels.

Thank you both, here is an small update in the cabin, i have made some minor changes in the hood and i have started to make the roof, i now need to make the rear part of the cabin, after that i will only need to make the steering wheel system and the seats and the cab should be finished:

I am planning to make a vario steering system too, so i think this unimog will have only 2 seats because of the console and the controls, this is what i have in mind:

And possibly if i put only 2 seats i will be able to make them suspended, for even more realism, any suggestion and information is welcome.
